The Single Mitten
by Tinydancer46
Once upon a fairytale
Two mittens were together
Thinking deep inside
They'd be this way forever

But then one fell upon the ground
On one gray stormy day
Separated from it's match
It sadly fell astray

It laid alone for many days
Till wind blew it away
It passed from mountains into lakes
And flew along the bay

But through the seas and valleys
Underneath the shining sun
This mitten was still searching
To find it's long lost one

And one day as this mitten
Blew to a crowded street
A lonely man looked down
And saw it at his feet...

The man put the mitten on
And turned to walk back home
Believing like the mitten
That he'd always be alone

And through his somber thinking
He blindly turned around
In time to see a woman
As she fell down to the ground

He smiled and apologized
And pulled her to her feet
Lost in conversation
Upon the crowded street

Then the mitten noticed
That as this girl did stand
The mitten he had searched for
Was on her softened hand...

The meaning of this story
Is to prove that just one day
Fate will make you smile
And love will find it's way
