A Wandering Heart
by Ann Marie
This stirring in my heart
Has left me all confused
Do you know you lost the part
That was in love with you

How could you let it go
Why did you throw it away
I don't think you know
I'm not yours today

You abandoned my love
Left the door opened wide
So when push came to shove
He got what you cast aside

He swept up the shattered
Pieces of my heart
He told me that I mattered
And that we'd never part

The choice was easy to make
By the time it came around
I looked, but for goodness sake,
Your love could not be found

Yes, I allowed my heart to drift
Since you had set it free
I wonder if you see the rift
That formed between you and me

Can we ever love each other
Like we did once before
I think we can but then I'm sure
That you have closed the door
