											| Accept This Ring |
											| by Ann Marie |
When I was only twelve years old
My parents gave to me
A very precious silver ring
Representing my purity

Chastity is a gift from God
Daddy told me on that day
Not something to be made light of
Nor simply thrown away

You may think that I am silly
And a bit old-fashioned, too
But if you wait for “Mr. Right”
He’ll have respect for you

Protect this gift so precious
As you get on with life
So you can give it to the one
Who takes you as his wife

So now my love—at twenty-two
This ring is 10 years old
I’ve enlarged it to fit your finger
And covered it in gold

Engraved inside are these three words
“Only Yours Forever”
I give my heart and all my love
This bond nothing can sever

A circle of fused silver and gold
No beginning and no end
To symbolize infinite love
And our lives into one will blend

Accept this ring as my pledge
And sign of faithfulness
If we give ourselves to God
Our union He will bless
